Worldwide Support for EARTH HOUR 2010!!!

Earth Hour on March 27th was a HUGE Success!

Look at the Earth Hour website (link below). It was an amazing hour that took place in every time zone around the world.

Countries from every continent participated. Major monuments and landmarks turned off their lights in dramatic fashion. The pictures are phenomenal!

Thanks for supporting such a wonderful, worldwide event! It shows how the actions of one city, Sydney, Australia, has MADE a DIFFERENCE on a global scale. All it takes is one person, one organization, one city to start a ripple effect that travels the globe...

Rotating EarthIt's Our Earth in downtown Wheaton is sponsoring a Recycled Art Contest for kids of all ages. Entries must use recyclable, reused and/or repurposed content. Prizes will be announced on April 24, 2010. For more details, call 630.668.3800.

Fullersburg Woods Earth Day Celebration - Sunday, April 18
Oak Brook, Noon-4pm

"Conservation, Restoration and Recycling" are the themes of this year's Earth Day celebration. There will be booths and activities for the whole family. Join SCARCE at this event and ride the energy bike to "feel" how energy can be saved by switching to CFLs. Plus, make recycled paper and learn how pollutants affect our water & environment and what we can do to make a difference through the groundwater flow model.

April showers are on the way, so come and experience the hands-on demonstration with the watershed models that teach about the pollutants which affect our environment especially during a heavy rainfall. Learn what we can do to help prevent our waterways from being polluted.

                            Whole Foods- Naperville: 2pm-5pm

The Whole Foods-Naperville will show how groundwater moves and how our lakes, rivers and wells are affected by the movement of water and pollutants through the ground with SCARCE's groundwater flow model.

Illinois Prairie Path Clean-Up - Saturday, April 24

Illinois Prairie PathRain or Shine! Once again the Illinois Prairie Path not-for-profit corporation is organizing its trail cleanup. Many volunteers are needed to cover many miles of trails. Please consider joining the fun on the Illinois Prairie Path.

Longer days and warmer temperatures invite a return to the garden or a stroll down Main Street. Enjoy both when the City of West Chicago presents another colorful Blooming Fest, an annual downtown garden festival. It combines the West Chicago Garden Club's popular plant sale, with a craft show, children's activities, music, food and fun. Downtown merchants and restaurants get into the act with special promotions, in-store specials and sidewalk sales.
