stockingHappy "Green" Holidays to Everyone!!!
Christmas shopping is in full swing! Here are some Earth Friendly ideas that are sure to be unique, terrific conversation starters!
We would like to encourage you to search for the environmental surprises that are becoming more prevalent in shopping stores.
  • Keep your eyes open for solar & crank electronics that don't need batteries.
  • There are also a wide variety of products made from reused and recycled material being sold on-line.
  • Look for products made from SUSTAINABLE Natural Resources: Kenaf, Corn, Hemp, Jute, Organic Cotton.

Try typing "gifts recycled products" in a Google search, and you will be amazed at what you will find!

Log onto the SCARCE Website for more of our FAVORITE GREEN Gifts & Products, SCARCE Favorites.

"GREEN" Wrapping Ideas for ALL Those Gifts
Christmas wrapping paper is NOT recyclable. Consider using a more Eco-Friendly Alternative:
  • Make your own wrapping paper out of paper bags and stamped designs
  • Shred old wrapping paper or newspaper and use as stuffing for gift bags
  • Save the clear containers that baked goods & other food comes in, fill with your shredded paper, place your gift on top and finish with a ribbon.
  • Use reusable gift or store bags - I package adult gifts in reusable grocery bags & a bow
  • Make your own reusable cloth gift bags which can be returned to you to be used year after year
  • Make recycled paper gift tagsRecycle

RecycleThe Giving Tree
By Shel Silverstein
Ages: All Ages - Young & Old

A classic book for all ages-for mothers and fathers! A moving parable about the gift of giving and the capacity to love, told throughout the life of a boy who grows to manhood and a tree that selflessly gives him her bounty through the years.

Reason for Hope
By Jane Goodall
Ages: Mature Middle Schoolers & Up
In Reason for Hope, Jane Goodall candidly shares her life-talking of the love and support of her mother, her son, her late husband, of friends and strangers-as well as the Gombe chimpanzees she introduced to the world nearly forty years ago. She gives us convincing reasons why we can and must open ourselves to the saints within each of us. At one with nature and challenged by the man-made dangers of environmental destruction, inequality, materialism, and genocide, Dr. Goodall offers insight into her perceptions of these threats and celebrates the people who are working for earth's renewal. Here, indeed, is Reason for Hope.
We wish everyone a very "Green" and Happy Holiday Season.

We are looking forward to the New Year with the Hope of a better, cleaner, healthier world for everyone!
