HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION

Cities occasionally schedule hazardous waste collection days. Check back for upcoming events.

PERMANENT HHW COLLECTION

Residents from throughout DuPage County can drop-off HHW at the permanent collection site operated by the city of Naperville. The permanent HHW collection facility is located at Naperville Fire Station No. 4, located at 1971 Brookdale Rd. (just off Route 59). The Naperville Facility is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., except on holidays.

WHAT HAZARDOUS WASTE is COLLECTED?

Accepted items include: Household cleaners, Drain opener, Paints (oil based only), Mineral spirits, Strippers, Solvents, Insecticides, Herbicides, Flammables, Automotive fluids, Fluorescent fixtures, Household batteries, Mercury, Unknown hazardous substances, unwanted medicine (prescription of over the counter)

Not accepted: Explosives, Ammunition, Radioactive materials, Compressed gas, Latex Paint, Trash and non-hazardous materials (small amounts of Latex Paint can be dried with an absorbent like sand or kitty litter and then placed out with regular garbage with the lid off the can)

Click on the 'DuPage County HHW Website' link in the upper right hand corner for more information. Typically there is a Latex Paint Collection in Woodridge where residents can drop off paint or get paint.

FYI

DO NOT bring your latex paint to an HHW Collection. Click on the 'Latex Paint' link for more information on the reasons behind the rule and alternatives for disposal. Check with your local paint store. Some paint stores take back Latex paint for donations to projects like Habitat for Humanity or other charitable causes.
