Green Dupage Patch

Updated:11/12/2009

WHAT IS THE GREEN DUPAGE PATCH?

The Green DuPage Patch is a program designed to enhance our awareness of the environment and the issues involving it. The program looks at some of our natural resources and areas related to them. These natural resources are such a vital and integral part of our lives that we must examine what we are doing to take care of them and explore ways to conserve, preserve and care for them.

HOW TO EARN THE PATCH

Several steps are involved in earning the Patch. Choose 3 of the 5 categories (Water, 3Rs, Air, Energy, Soil)

For EACH of the 3 categories, 4 different steps must be completed:
1. EXPLORE - investigate and learn about the natural resource or a specific topic related to it
2. ACT - design and implement a plan or project which demonstrates care/concern for conserving/preserving/protecting/improving that natural resource
3. SHARE - take the knowledge, concerns, results of your project and communicate, in a meaningful way, the discoveries you have made.
4. DOCUMENTATION - each of the above three steps must be documented or substantiated in some way
